Hearts eye League, FA Cup sweep

The Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak,Togbe Afede XIV, has expressed confidence in the team’s ability to win the trophies at stake for the various competitions in this football season.

That sounds absurd considering the Phobians enduring a jerky start to the 2023/24 betPawa Premier League which has seen them win just a single game in four matches, losing twice and drawing one.

That performance, however,Togbe Afede XIV said would not derail the team’s dream of replicating the feat of the 2021/22 season.

Addressing shareholders at the club’s fifth Annual General Meeting (AGM) last Wednesday, the Chief of Asogli emphatically declared that the dream to replicate the 2021/22 season was on course.

“The team has had a slow start to the season and that is similar to the 2021 season when we won the double. The start was worse than what we are experiencing now but we remained very confident and we did it.

“Today, we are faced with the same scenario, making us very confident the team would recover well in time to meet the expectations of the fans by winning the league this season.”

According to him, the Board’s main priority this season was to win trophies and would push until that becomes a reality.

He noted that the foundation has been laid for a better future and urged fans to appreciate what the Board was doing for the club.

Togbe Afede XIV called on shareholders and supporters of the club to support the course of the Board so that together, they can build the club and enjoy the benefits together.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has postponed indefinitely the club’s match day five game against Heart of Lions, which was slated for Saturday at the WAFA Park in Sogakope.

This was as a result of the Volta dam spillage that has affected Sogakope.
