Zion Hills Multimedia (Zed multimedia), a new media organisation with the focus of projecting Lifestyle, Leisure, and Business (LLB) across its diverse platforms has been launched in Accra.

The media organisation comprised several subsidiaries, including The New Finder Newspaper (formerly The Finder Newspaper), Zed 101.9fm radio, Zed TV, Zedonline, and Zed Tech.

Speaking at the launch in Accra on Friday, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zion Hills Multimedia, Nana Osafo Kantanka, said the launch marked a significant milestone for Zed multimedia as it embarked on its journey to redefine mass media in Ghana, promising a fresh perspective and a commitment to delivering content that resonates with diverse audiences.

He said the vision of the media organisation was to become “a global, ethical, and sustainable media of choice,” with a mission to stand for excellence in the use of credible mass media to enhance the quality of human lives and serve the public interest.

“This dream was about 57 years ago and is birthed on the pillar of providing the world, Africa and Ghana with distinctive and sustainable communication from the print media, radio, television and the digital space an opportunity and render entrepreneurship to the people of Ghana,” he added.

Nana Osafo Kantanka, who also doubles as a traditional ruler of Akropong in the Eastern Region assured the organisation’s commitment of providing valuable information, delivering quality content to meet the expectations of the audience, while fostering community engagement.

The Dean of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Law School, Professor Ernest Kofi Abotsi, who was the guest speaker emphasised the need for a shift in political discourse that had taken over the Ghanaian media.

He indicated that, media organisations today were filled with the “poverty of knowledge,” allowing politics to overshadowed discussions of national interest, leaving the country behind.

Prof. Abotsi charged Zed multimedia to chart the new path by showing leadership of providing public broadcasting and credible information that would benefit the masses and the country at large.

Renowned public servant, educationist, and academic, Professor Stephen Adei, challenged the management and workers of Zed multimedia to be a voice of integrity and guard against misinformation and disinformation across all media platforms.

Mr Kwame Pianim, a renowned economist and statesman for his part, entreated the media organisation to be driven by professionalism, balance and dynamism in its work, saying “the media, the fourth estate of the realm is critical for checks and balances and in any democracy, the absence of a vibrant dynamic media, committed to truth and integrity spells trouble.”

The Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, Dr Pastor Mensa Otabil, who dedicated and launched the organisation urged them to exhibit uniqueness while being extremely innovative and excellent to thrive in a media market that had already been defined, to become a media house of choice.

Notable personalities in attendance were James Ebo Whyte, popularly known as Uncle Ebo Whyte, a playwright, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah popularly known as KKD, a renowned broadcaster, Mark Okraku-Mantey, Deputy Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture, Fritz Baffour, former Minister of Information, Cynthia Prah, National Information Officer of the United Nations Information Center (UNIC), Ministers of the gospel, traditional leaders among others.
