YONBSA gets baseball equipment

 Baseball equipment worth GH¢5,000 have been donated to the Youth Network Baseball and Softball Academy (YONBSA), a grassroots sports NGO based in Tema towards its developmental programmes.

The equipment includes baseball gloves, ball, bats, boots, pants, helmets, hats, batting gloves, line-up books, scoring sheets, pitching counters, plate brush among others.

The donation was made possible by Sammy Seo, Eddy Kleinhans, Coach Jesse Ough and the parents of players in the East Bay Cyclones Baseball Club in California.

Making the presentation at a short ceremony at the Celestial School Complex in Ashaiman, Coach Ough said the aim was to help spread and sustained the interest of the game in the schools and the communities.

He stressed on the need for baseball to be widely propagated to catch the interest of both the young and the old in the country and indicated that the only way to achieve such a target was to invest in both the human and infrastructure base of the game.

“Baseball is a sport which requires not only the people with interest but also resources to achieve the targeted impact so it would not fade out,” he said.

He said it was important for all the sporting disciplines to be given the needed attention in order to harness the abundant talent in the teaming youth for the benefit of the individual and the country at large.

An Executive member of YONBSA, Hugo Huppenbauer, expressed the organisation’s deepest appreciation to all who made the donation possible and also making sure it got to Ghana safely.
