The 1983 year group of old boys of Yendi Senior High School (SHS) have renovated a 4-unit classroom block of their alma mater at a cost of GH¢ C33,000.00.
They also provided the school with furniture and other teaching materials.
The spokesperson of the 1983-year group, Mr Dokurugu Andrew Yahaya, said the renovation and provision of furniture was funded throughthe contribution of members.
According to him, the renovation was part of the commitment of the old boys to help enhance quality teaching and learning in their alma mater.
He said the school has made them whom they were and that it was time for them to show their appreciation to the school hence the renovation of the classroom block.
Mr Yahaya pledged his group’s readiness to provide further assistance to the school.
“We would try to contribute towards the development our Alma mater as we continue to work in our various organisations and institutions,” he promised
Mr Suaib Wilberforce Adam, President of Old Students for the Northern Region impressed upon the students to justify the contribution of the old students of the school by working hard to improve their academic performance.
He admonished teachers to be committed and alive to their responsibilities.
Mr Adam also advised the students to put their studies over and above any other thing and stick to their books.
He emphasised that the only way for students to get excellent results was through studies.
The Headmaster of Yendi SHS, Chief Alhassan Mustak Hussain commended the old students for their tireless efforts towards development of the school.
He promised to work with his staff to ensure discipline and improve quality teaching and learning in the school.
