Yendi MP urges teachers to be committed to their work

Dr Farouk Aliu Mahama, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Yendi Constituency in the Northern Region, has called on teachers in the area to be committed to their work.

He made the call in Yendi yesterday when he engaged headmasters, and staff of Yendi Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) toward the development of education in the area.

The MP reminded the people that they could not develop without quality education in the area.

Dr Mahama said he was ever ready to work closely with the directorate of the Ghana Education Service in Yendi to realize the development of education in the constituency.

He stated that, it was his mandate as MP to collaborate with them to harmonise the plans to achieve the common goal in the education sector of the municipality.

“The introduction of my New Yendi City Agenda vision stands to curb most of the challenges the Education sector faces in the area,”he added.

Dr Mahama said as part of efforts to support education in the area, he recently paid for mock exams for BECE candidates in the area.

He advised teachers to give quality teaching to students in the area as they were the future leaders of tomorrow.

Dr Mahama also called on the teachers to be disciplined, focused and transparent in the discharge of their duties to help elevate Yendi constituency to a new era.

The Headmaster of Nuru Awar Islamic Primary School, Mr Sumaila Mahami, applauded the MP for his contribution to education.

He said the number of schools he renovated and built had really improved academic work in the area.

Mr Mahami, therefore, applauded the MP for contributing to the educational infrastructural development and called on him to implement a scheme to support teachers improve their skills.
