Yendi MP funds renovation of 3 schools in constituency

The Member of Parliament for Yendi Constituency in the Northern Region, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, on Monday handed over three renovated school blocks to the communities to enhance effective teaching learning

The roofing of the schools was ripped off three years ago after a heavy rain left the school blocks in a very bad state.

An appeal was made to the MP in one of his visits to the communities by the elders of the affected schools to help them renovate the schools.

The schools are Nuru Islam Primary School, Kunkon Primary and Zakoli MA primary which were renovated at a cost of GH¢ 235, 000.00.

The MP also presented 1,200 boxes of exercise books, pens and pencils to the students.

At a short ceremony to hand over the renovated schools, the MP said education was so dear to his heart.

“Supporting to bring the needed infrastructure development in the education sector to the constituency is dear to my heart,” he said.

He said without education he would not have reached where he was today and encouraged parents to send their wards to school.

Alhaji Mahama also advised the students to take their academic work seriously as they were the future leaders of tomorrow.

The MP, however, appealed to the chiefs and the authorities of the schools to take proper care of the facilities.

The Headmaster of Nuru Islam Primary School, Mr Mumuni Shaban, speaking on behalf of his colleagues headmasters thanked the MP for the kind gesture and assured him that they would take proper care of the facilities

Chief of Zakoli, Na Abukari Andani told the MP that, they really appreciate what he has been doing for them.

“Today I would have a sound sleep because my community school has been put back to good shape” the chief emphasised.

“We the chiefs in the three communities cannot express our joy to you.  You have really saved our children,” Na Andani said.
