Woman charged for disturbing public peace

Afadzato South District Court yesterday adjourned to October 15, the case in which Mathilda Enyonam Abbah, a trader, was charged for disturbing public peace.

Abbah, who allegedly fought with three women, her co-tenants, pleaded not guilty, and was granted GH¢2,000.00 bail.

The adjournment is to enable prosecution get access to a new thumbprint of the accused, after she rejected the one on her statement form, alleging it was bigger.

The court presided by Sam John, ordered accused to make available a new thumbprint to the prosecution, Inspector Yaw Michael Azaglo.

Prosecution told the court that accused and the three co-tenants had a misunderstanding on September 27, 2018.

Insp Azaglo said the three women allegedly pounced on accused and in self defence had one of the victim’s dresses torn.

The court heard that accused also suffered injuries on her head and neck.

Insp Azaglo said when Abbah reported the matter to the Golokwati Police, they refused to give her a medical form.

The court heard that accused was advised to go for a counsel from the Legal AID in Ho, and to Omega chambers in Hohoe for assistance.

The two bodies took the matter up and issued accused with a letter to go to Margarete Marquart Hospital in Kpando because her health was critical.

She was later referred to the 37 Military Hospital, in Accra, where a scan detected that she has a crack in the head with traces of internal bleeding.
