Widespread encroachment on airport lands nationwide must stop – President orders

 President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed disquiet about the wide spread encroachment on airport lands across the country. 

The phenomenon he said threatens future expansion of airports saying “this practice must stop.”

He therefore called on operators and regulators of the country’s airports especially the Land Commission and nananom to ensure that the practice was halted forth- with. 

“The operators and regulators of our airports as well as Land Commission and nananom need to sit up and ensure the lands belonging to the airports are managed properly and duly protected not only for future projects but safeguarding lives and property,” he stated. 

President Akufo-Addo assured residents of the Bono Region of more development saying the inauguration of the rehabilitated SunyaniAirport was a sign for good things to happen.

He further assured that his administration would not discriminate against any particular region and the national cake would be shared equitably among the citizens of the country. 

Responding to the chiefs on the need to fix deplorable road networks of the region,  President Akufo-Addo appealed to the chiefs and people of the region to bear with his government as he take steps to address their concerns.

Some residents of Sunyani who spoke with the Ghanaian Times expressed their joy for the completion of the SunyaniAirport project indicating that it will boost businesses and employment avenues for the people. 

The project which commenced in 2019 costs GH¢52 million.
