We’re engaging stakeholders over majority caucus to sack Ofori-Atta, Adu Boahen – NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that it is engaging all stakeholders over the demand of some Majority caucus in Parliament for the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta and the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen to be relieved of their position.

According to the party, it was in discussions with the government and the Members of Parliament (MPs) to find an amicable solution to the matter.

This was contained in a statement signed and issued by the National Chairman of NPP, Stephen Ntim in Accra, appealing to all factions to remain calm as the issue was being resolved.

“The leadership of the party is currently engaging the government as well as the parliamentary group and I urge all stakeholders to remain calm as it seeks an amicable resolution to the impasse and I assure the national executives will engage the government on all issues of utmost interest and concern to the NPP,” it said.

Earlier, on Tuesday, 80 members of the Majority Caucus in Parliament called for the immediate dismissal of Mr Ofori-Atta as Minister of Finance and Mr Boahen by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

They threatened to vote against all government businesses that will be laid before the House.

At a press conference addressed by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Andy Appiah-Kubi, he said Mr Ofori-Atta and Mr Boahen had ran the economy aground and must be shown the exit.

“Notice is hereby served that until such persons as aforementioned are made to resign or removed from office, we members of the Majority caucus here in parliament will not participate in any business of the government by or for the president or by any other minister,” they indicated.
