VRA donates books to SHSs in Asuogyaman

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has donated 2,250 science, mathematics and English text books to Senior High Schools in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.

The schools are Apegusu, Akwamuman, Adina, Bosso and Anum Presbyterian Senior High Schools.

The gesture, which forms part of the authority’s corporate social responsibility is to enhance the study of the subjects in the schools.

Mr Samuel Fletcher, the Manager of Community Relations at the VRA, donating the books, said the gesture was in line with the authority’s long held policy to reach out to communities affected by their operations.

According to Mr Fletcher, the VRA was of the conviction that education remained the bedrock of every developing country, hence the decision to reach out to schools in the area.

He said the VRA has over the years, assisted schools in various forms and would continue to do so to improve on teaching and learning.

Mr Fletcher urged the school authorities and students to use the books well to enhance teaching and learning.

The Coordinating Director of the District, Prosper Agbenyo, receiving the books on behalf of the schools, expressed the district’s appreciation for the support.

Presenting the books to the District Director of Education, Mr Agbenyo urged more organisations to reach out to schools and entreated the district education directorate to take good care of the books.

Receiving the books, Mrs Augustina Owusu, thanked the VRA for the gesture and tasked teachers in beneficiary schools to put the books to good use.
