Experienced football administrator, Mr. Jones Abu Alhassan, was reported dead in Cote d’Ivoire yesterday where he traveled on club duties.
The former Real Tamale United (RTU) official’s death occurred yesterday after a short illness.
Mr. Alhassan was part of the Ghana Football Association’s delegation that accompanied Hasaacas Ladies to the WAFU Zone B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament which Hasaacas won last Thursday.
Abu Alhassan, an instrumental figure in the election of Kurt Okraku as GFA President, reportedly contracted COVID-19 after the team’s arrival in Abidjan and had been in hospital since.
His death will come as a big shock to the Ghana football community, having been a key figure in Ghana football for the last 30 years.
