Veep pays courtesy call on Ya-Na

The Paramount Chief of Dagbon Traditional Area, Ndan Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II has commended the government for awarding Tamale- Yendi and Zabzugu – Tatale roads for construction.

He said the dualisation of the Yendi town roads through the Easter Corridor Road was currently ongoing.

The Ya- Na made the statement in Yendi when the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia paid a courtesy call on him as part of his two- day tour of the Northern Region.

He added that the construction of the roads was a serious concern to the people and were yearning to see the completion of the project.

The Ya-Na said the completion of the roads would not only reduce the daily accidents on the road, but would also boost the economic activities of farmers in the area.

He appealed to the government to add Gukpegu – Nayilifong road in Yendi town daulisation road project.

Ndan Ya- Na Abukari also appealed passionately to the Vice President as matter of urgency to assist the contractor working on the Chereponi and Saboba roads to fast track it as it was in a bad state.

He also commended the government for working tirelessly to resolve the protracted Dagbon crises.

“We have peace in Dagbon as we expected and owed it an obligation to appreciate the efforts in realising the feat,” he stated

He said the water crises in Yendi remained a great concern to the people during dry season.

Ndan Ya- Na added that Yendi and the surrounding communities were often hit hard with severe water crises during dry season every year.

He, therefore, appealed to the government to work towards resolving the annual water crises in the Traditional Capital of Dagbon.

The Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia assured Ndan Ya- Na of his readiness to resolve the challenges in the area.

He said the water crises would soon be a thing of the past.

He said the project was still in the procurement stage and the contractors would soon get to site to begin work, as soon as possible.

The Vice President also added that the Yendi town roads would also be tackled as part of the Yendi -Tamale roads.

Dr Bawumia said the government would not disappoint them, saying that they would always give them the needed development.

He told Ndan Ya-Na to continue praying for the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo – Addo led government for more infrastructure development in the Dagbon Traditional area.

“I’m  your Son, I would forever bring you more development,” the Vice President said

The Vice President also visited the ongoing project of Agenda 111 under the government flagship programs in Wulensi.
