Veep joins Saint Michael and All Angels Anglican Church to mark 90th anniversary

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia last Sunday joined the Saint Michael and All Angels Anglican Church to mark the 90anniversary and thanks-giving service of the Church at Korle-Gono, a suburb of Accra.

The Member of Council of State and former Mayor of Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Stanley Adjiri-Nii Blankson, who extended the invitation, conferred the name “Nii Kojo Dr Mahamudu Bawumia” on the Vice President, praising him for honouring the invitation and for his religious tolerance.

Right Rev. Dr Daniel Sylvanus Mensah Torto led the clergy and the congregation in prayers for God’scontinuous blessings of peace and prosperity for the country and His guidance for the President and the Vice President to steer the affairs of the country.

Earlier on September 25, Dr Bawumia had joined Nii Adjiri-Blankson to mark his 86th birthday in the church.

Describing himself as honourable member of the congregation, the Vice President made a personal contribution of undisclosed sum of money to help finance some of the projects of the church.

Addressing the congregation, Dr Bawumia praised the clergy and congregation on the occasion of the 90th anniversary and urged them to continue to be thankful to God for what he had done for the Church and what the Church had done to humanity.

Dr Bawumia said “90thyears in the life of any person is really a blessing from God, I think those who started this church, some of them are not with us today, but we are enjoying the fruits of what they have shown.”

“God tells us that we should be thankful for all things…we count our blessings one by one, and there are many blessings. 90 years of winning soul for Christ means making the world a better place to live in,” he said

“Thinking about it if we were all to live our lives like how Christ thought us to live our lives, there will be no armed robbery, there will be no corruption, lies and theft, and the world will be a peaceful place because Christ is the Prince of Peace,” he added.
