The USSUYA Ghana Limited, a construction firm in Accra, has donated classroom furniture worth GH¢ 40,000 to the T.I Ahmadiyya Primary School in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region to enhance teaching and learning.
The furniture which was handed over to the management of the school at a short ceremony at the school premises over the weekend, comprised 200 tables and chairs made of wood and metal.
Mr Safianu Yakubu who made the presentation on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Yusif Yakubu, indicated that the provision of the tables and chairs would enhance teaching and learning activities in a conducive environment.
He said the donation was in response to the numerous calls made by some of the community members and old students of the school to help improve education in the municipality.
He said his outfit would continue to support the development and improvement of educational institutions to strengthen the quality of education in the area.
He urged the students to take their academic work seriously and also encouraged them together with their teachers to take very good care of thefurniture presented to ensure longevity.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Mohammad Arkib who took delivery of the furniture, commended the team for the kind gesture and said it was a great relief to the board, management, staff and most especially the pupils at the school.
“Enrollment in the school is very poor as a result of the nature of the environment and the limited supply of infrastructure and lack of furniture; we are confident therefore that the furniture will contribute to addressing one of the many challenges in the school,” he said.
The Headmaster used the platform to call on government, corporate bodies, non-governmental organisations and philanthropists to come to the aid of the school since there were other pressing needs begging for attention and pledged the school’s commitment to maintaining the furniture.
