UNESCO appointment for Dr Bello Bitugu

Director at the Sports Directorate of the University of Ghana, Legon, Dr Bella Bello Bitugu, has been appointed to serve on the Governing Board of the International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

According to the letter of appointment sighted by the Times Sports, Dr Bitugu would serve a three-year term on the Board.

In the letter signed by the Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO, Mrs Ama Serwah Neequaye-Tetteh, Dr Bitugu is expected to use his rich experience in sports administration to enhance the activities of centre.

“On behalf of the Chairman of the Commission, we congratulate you on the achievement and hope that you will bring to bear your expertise to further the objectives and work of the Centre as well as uplift the image of our beloved country and continent on the whole,” it stated.

“We also take the opportunity to renew our sustained assistance to you in discharge of your duties on the Board, should the need arise,” it added.

Dr Bitugu, a renowned sports administrator recognised his latest appointment as another opportunity to serve and impact on sports development on the continent.
