UBER Ghana, GFA sign deal

Uber Ghana has signed a three-year contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to become the official e-hailing partner of the FA.

By the partnership, Uber Ghana will ensure spectators have reliable transportation options on match days and additionally providing dedicated pick-up and drop-off areas to be known as Uber Zones across the various stadia in the Greater Accra region, Kumasi, Cape Coast, Tamale, Takoradi and Sunyani for spectators to access their rides.

Country Manager of Uber, Marjorie Saint-Lot, speaking at the signing ceremony said the move was to aid football sustainability within the period of the deal and to celebrate every football fan who patronize the various GFA products.

She said “Uber Ghana will run promotions and activations up to a week before games for promotional codes, discounted trips, meet and greet among others, all in a bid to give fans an incredible experience before and on match days.”

She revealed that this unique partnership is also available to all local clubs in the cities they operate.

“We are very proud of the growth that we have seen in our business, particularly Africa where we have hit one billion trips, and Ghana for that matter is a huge part of this success story this year.”


The President of the GFA, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku said as a Football Association, they care about the wellbeing of the spectators who patronise the FA’s products, hence introducing an e-hailing service that would take them to games in a safe situation, at a cheaper rate and was more reliable and realistic.

He said that “Night football has come to stay. Through Uber Ghana, we would enjoy the games knowing that afterwards there is guaranteed transport at a subsidised rate to take us back home safely.”
