Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is very much on board with a potential trilogy fight against his career rival, Evander Holyfield.
Holyfield pulled off a major upset when he stopped Tyson in eleven rounds in 1996.
Their 1997 rematch is one of the most controversial bouts in history, as Tyson was disqualified in the third round for biting off a piece of Holyfield’s ear.
Tyson has been very vocal about his desire to return to the ring, for a few exhibition fights to raise money for charity.
He posted several training clips, which went viral on the internet. At 53-years-old, Tyson appeared to be in great shape as he showcased his trademark speed and power.
Tyson has been out of the ring since 2005, when he suffered a knockout loss at the hands of heavyweight journeyman Kevin McBride.
When Tyson revealed his interest in fighting – Holyfield, 57-years-old, quickly answered the call. A four time heavyweight champion, Holyfield began posting some training videos of his own and expressing his interest in facing Tyson for a third time.
Tyson believes a third fight would raise a lot of money during the coronavirus pandemic.
“That would be awesome for charity,” Tyson said on TMZ Live. “… Can you imagine me and Holyfield going in the ring together? … Hey listen, there are a lot of people out there that need help and something like that could help a lot of people that are in need of help.” -Boxingscene
