Two corporate organisations, SES HD PLUS and Happy 98.9FM have joined forces to celebrate fathers for their contributions to the society.

SED HD PLUs, Ghana’s premium high-definition satellite broadcast service provider and Ghana’s most innovative radio brand, Happy98.9FM celebrated fathers in grand style at the Legon Botanical Gardens on Sunday as part of this year’s Father’s Day celebration.

The two organisations as part of the Father’s Day, organised an outdoor event dubbed; ‘Father’s Day Out.’

This event was to celebrate and congratulate fathers for their utmost devotion to their families and for always prioritising them.

The event saw families contesting in competitive fun games and participated in games and other sporting activities such as football, treasure hunts, arm wrestling, table tennis, cards, ludo, oware.

As part of the programme, Cedar Medical Plaza provided free medical screening section to run free eye test, general medical screening and ailments which affect men.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SES HD PLUS Ghana, Theodore Asampong, in his remarks said “Last month we honoured our mothers and today we are doing same for our fathers to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of fatherhood. Most people talk about how their fathers are disciplinarians and hard workers when asked to share fond memories of them. But we seek to change that. We want the Ghanaian to start saying thank you and love you daddy to their fathers as fatherhood is equally as important as motherhood.”

He said ‘Father’s Day Out’ event was to help the celebration of the Father’sDay and celebrating fathers for their contributions to the development of society.

The Programmes Manager for Happy98.9FM, ElwoodeMantey, said the ‘Father’s Day Out’ event would go down in history books as the event that institutionalised the celebration of fathers in a magnificent manner.

“Fathers are barely celebrated and we seek to change that. HD+PLUS and Happy98.9FM joined forces to make this Father’s Day event grand and to let fathers know we have not forgotten about them and that we cherish them as much as we do mothers.”
