A 30-year-old trader has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Nkawie circuit court for stealing six air conditioners at the Edwenease Information Communication Centre (ICT), in the Kwadaso Municipality.
Collins Agyeipleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted on his own plea by the court presided by Mr. Michael Johnson Abbey.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr. SylvanusDalmeida told the court that convict sneaked into the ICT centre, a government facility, and stole the air conditioners.
According to prosecution, Agyeiwas spotted by the caretaker of the centre, who alerted a police patrol team in the area.
DSP Dameida said Agyei was arrested while in procession of the air conditionersand waiting by the roadside to board a vehicle.
The court heard thatconvict admitted the offence during interrogation and was charged and brought before the court.-GNA
