Tema Regional Police record 3,561 criminal cases

The Tema Regional Police Command recorded a total of 3,561 criminal cases for the second quarter of the year as compared with a total of 3,474 in the first quarter.

The cases included four murders from April to June of this year with one of the cases under trial while three were still under investigation. 

The Public Relations Officer for the Command, Chief Inspector Mrs Stella Dede Dzakpasu, who disclosed these to the Ghanaian Times, on Friday, said the police recorded a total of 71 robbery cases with 59 being residential, seven at work place and five on the street.

Chief Insp Dzakpasu said seven narcotic cases, with four being possession of Indian hemp and three being the use of Indian Hemp were recorded.

She a total of 454 economic offences made up of 398 cases of trespassing, four being issuance of false cheque, seven unlawful damages, 21 land and mortgage fraud and 25 cases of fraudulent transaction. 

The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit recorded a total of 18 cases with seven being defilement, four rape cases and three indecent assault and four cases of child maintenance.

Chief Insp Dzakpasu asked the public to co-operate with the police to deal with crime, saying it was important for all persons to feed the police with the necessary information to help fight crime.
