Team Shaolin win Abor Fitness Club Community Football Gala  

 Team Shaolin from Mallam Atta were crowned winners of the Abor Fitness Club Community Football Gala held at the Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC) on Monday.

They defeated Pig Farm by a lone goal after dispatching Panama Area 2-0 in the semi-final clash.

For their prize, they received a set of jersey, football, a cash of GH¢2,000 and medals, while Pig Farm, the team to place second, went home with GH¢1,500, a set of jersey, football and medals.

The third position went to Quaye Mensah after beating Panama Area 4-2 via the lottery of shoot-out, following a 1-1 stalemate in regulation time. They received a cash prize of GH¢1,000 with a set of jersey for their efforts.

The 12-day event, which kicked off from December 21, 2022 to January 2, 2023, marked the 10th anniversary of the Abor Fitness Club founded by Mr Moses Abor, the Assemblyman for Kokomlele East.

The event attracted 16 teams within the Ayawaso Central Dis­trict of the Greater Accra Region namely; Wawa Road, Pig Farm, ATTC, Shaolin, Mallam Atta and Kokomlele, among others.

Speaking to the media, Mr Abor, who doubles as the NPP Region­al Youth Organiser for Greater Accra, lauded and all the clubs for their commitment throughout the tournament.

He said it would be an annual event in December to promote unity among the youth and also serve as a platform to unearth talents within the constituency.

The Kokomlele East Assembly­man said this April, there would be the maiden edition of the In­ter-Tribal Community Fun Games to promote peace among the various tribes in the community.

He added that he would help process a passport each for the Best Goalkeeper, Best Player and Top Scorer.

The finals was graced by top NPP personalities, traditional and opinion leaders in Kokomlele and ex-Ghanaian international and Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak defender, Agyeman Duah.
