Sunon Asogli Power, yesterday donated a chemical Analyser and Hematology Analyser worth Gh¢100,000.00 to the Kpone Polyclinic, in the Kpone-Katamanso municipality of the Great Accra Region.
The equipment will boost the hospital’s laboratory services and enable it treat clients with diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, obesity and other chronic non communicable diseases.
The gesture was in response to a request by the hospital at the launch of its 25th anniversary celebration this year, to enable it take care for the increased number of patients as it has been elevated to a polyclinic.
Presenting the equipment, the General Manager of Sunon Asogli Power, Mr Jin Zhengyi, said the company was supporting the polyclinic to deliver quality healthcare to clients, and strengthen preventive, primary health care and secondary health services.
Mr Zhengyi said the company established in 2011, produces 560 megawatts power from a combined cycle natural gas power plant to help resolve the intermittent power shortages in the country and make it the energy hub of Africa.
He said that the company was planning to set up a renewable energy project in Ghana and the sub Saharan Africa.
Mr Zhengyi said as part of its corporate social responsibility the company had constructed 4km concrete road, an astro football turf for the Kpone community and supported the Kpone Police station and the Ghana National Fire Service station.
Receiving the donation, the Director of Health for Kpone- Katamanso District, Dr Priscilla E. Danquah, thanked the company for the gesture.
She noted that the chemical analyser would enable the facility undertake liver functioning test, kidney functioning test, cardiac enzymes, uric acid (people with gout and arthritis) and check cholesterol level among other things.
Dr Danquah said the polyclinic was in dire need of an isolation centre for the treatment of COVID-19, tuberculosis and cholera patients before they were transferred to other facilities.
The Member of Parliament for Kpone-Katamanso Constituency, Joseph Tetteh, urged corporate bodies to support the polyclinic.
