Stronger partnerships between MPs, assemblies will strengthen local governance – Amin Adam

Alhaji Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Karaga Constituency in the Northern Region, has called for a stronger partnership in duty dispensation between MPs and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to accelerate governance at the local level.

According to him, it would also enable the two offices to deliver on their mandates to the people in the communities.

While commending the residents for their efforts towards building the community, Alhaji Dr Adam advised on the need for consistent maintenance of infrastructure in the community to improve livelihoods.

He made the call when he addressed an interactive session at the assembly in Karaga on his plans for the constituency and the pragmatic steps that have been taken to achieve that.

Alhaji Dr Amin reiterated his earnest desire that academic pursuits were diversified, making the products churned out of the constituency holistic, be able to compete with the versatile nature of the job market, education should not only be theoretically inclined, but practically oriented as well and assured of promoting technical and vocational training in addition to existing second cycle institutions.

“We are building an additional senior high school in addition to what we have to be able to absorb the growing population of students that we produce periodically, I pledge to sponsor the best 20 of the just-graduated Basic Education Certificate Education candidates till they complete university through the Anta Scholarship Fund,” he revealed and also proffered solutions to other issues such as access to water in the community.

Alhaji Dr Amin mentioned 78 boreholes constructed under his borehole project and thus, constituents would be comfortable with clean water that would be produced, with appropriate maintenance and underscored plans to strengthen security in Karaga by providing constant police patrols as well as incentivising the police by building police posts to facilitate their work. –citinewsroom.com
