Strengthen grass-roots structures to retain power …MP to NPP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manso-Adubia Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Yaw Frimpong Addo, has called for the strengthening of the grass-root party structures to help retain power in the 2024 general election.

“Building the capacities of the constituency executives, polling station executives, area coordinators and other local structures of the party is the surest way of strengthening the grassroots and galvanising members, supporters and sympathisers of the party towards victory in 2024,” he intimated.

He explained that it was important to provide the structures at the grassroots of the party with the needed communication skills and appropriate information to enable them to propagate the government’s good works to win the party more support towards a resounding victory in 2024.

Speaking at a three-day capacity-building workshop for the constituency and polling station executives, area coordinators, women’s wing and youth organisers, as well as other local actors of the party at Manso-Adubia, Mr Addo, who is also a Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, said the initiative was to empower the officers to perform their duties efficiently and effectively to attract first-time and floating voters.

“Leadership at the local levels of the NPP is key to the party’s electoral victory which needed to be provided with support, assistance, logistics to perform and activists of the party must embark on aggressive house-to-house campaigns to sell the good works of the government to help sustain confidence within the family,” he entreated.

Kofi Acheampong, the constituency chairman, indicated that the training was to empower the participants to defend and uphold the tradition, values and norms of the party while they canvassed for members of the community for support and assistance in the elections.

He stressed on peace, unity and harmony among members, sympathisers and well-wishers of the party and tasked them to work as a team to help break the eight-year political party rule adding that “the training will be held regularly to ensure members and supporters stayed on top of issues in their political campaign activities in the constituency”.

Peter Atta Asenso, the constituency organiser, observed that the grassroots were committed, dedicated and determined to working to increase electoral fortunes of the party in the constituency and appealed for material and logistics support and assistance to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
