Stellenbosch sign on Ghana winger Afoakwa

STELLENBOSCH FC have completed the signing of Ghana winger Dickson Afoakwa, who arrives after playing the last few years in Eastern Europe.

The 21-year-old is already at his fifth club after a mixed last few years, that started at Cornerstone FC in his homeland.

He was signed by Belarusian side Dynamo Brest in July 2016, where he battled for game-time, before being loaned to Gomel FC. From there, he moved to Slovenian side NK Triglav Kranj, but lasted only six months before being released in January.

Afoakwa plays predominantly on the right wing, but can also switch to the left and also feature as a centre-forward.

He is one of three foreigners signed by newly-promoted Stellenbosch, along with Dutch goalkeeper Boy de Jong and Mexican midfielder Diego Franco, who was at University of Pretoria last season.

The club is also assessing Swazi international Mthunzi Mkhontfo, who was previously the boss of AS Vita Club in the DemocratIc Republic of Congo. – Backpage TXT
