Steel bender before court for defiling 13-year-old girl

A steel bender, who allegedly sexually abused a 13-year-old girl, left in his care, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court, charged with defilement.

Benjamin Kofi Fusse, accused, has, however, denied the offence.

The court presided by Mrs Rita Abrokwa Doko admitted Fusse to GH¢20,000 bail with three sureties, one to be justified, and he is expected to reappear on May 3.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire said that the victim lived with her aunt at Achimota Gulf Hills, Accra.

He said the victim’s aunt relocated to Ashaiman, and because the victim was schooling, he was asked to live with accused and the family at Achimota Gulf Hills.

Chief Insp Atimbire said last year, Fusse’s wife travelled, and left behind her children and the victim.

Prosecution said Fusse took advantage of the wife’s absence and forcibly had sex with the victim.

Chief Insp Atimbire said accused continued having sex with the girl even when the wife returned from her trip.

The court heard that on March 30, this year, at dawn, Fusse sneaked into the sleeping room and had sex with the girl.

Prosecution said the victim could no longer bear the sexual ordeal, and she reported the case  to the police at Achimota School Station.

Chief Insp Atimbire said the police invited the aunt to assist in investigations, and the matter was transferred to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), Tesano.

He said a medical report form was issued to the aunt so that the girl could seek medical attention, and Fusse was arrested, but he denied the offence. – GNA
