Stay in your districts for effective delivery -MMDCEs advised

Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) have been advised to endeavour to stay in their respective jurisdictions for effective and efficient delivery of their mandate.

They have been also told to move to their respective jurisdictions, stay there and live within the communities for them to build their trust and confidence in them.

Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, the Upper West Regional Minister, who gave the advice at the swearing-in of the remaining three MDCEs in Wa, warned he would no longer tolerate the situation where some of them lived outside their jurisdiction and commuted on daily basis.

He noted that the practice of staying in regional capitals and not frequenting communities was affecting coffers of various Assemblies and would not be allowed to continue.

The three who were sworn in by Justice Abdul-YusifAsibey, the Supervising High Court Judge in Wa, were Jacob Domekakpiery Dery, Lawra Municipal Chief Executive, Nicolas Soyiri, Jirapa Municipal Chief Executive and Madam Vida Diorotey, Wa West District Chief Executive.

DrBinSalih urged them to strike good relations with their traditional authorities and religious leaders since they were key stakeholders and “if you want your stay in the communities to be peaceful, you need to have an excellent relation with traditional authorities”.

He admitted that the task on their hands were heavy, but with unity and cooperation, they would be able to surmount it because the President had confidence in them and that was why he appointed them and appealed to them not to betray him and his government rather work to justify their appointment by not lauding their positions over the people they were going to work with.

On behalf of her colleagues, Madam Diorotey thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to work hard to actualise his vision for their various metropolitan, municipal and districts. -GNA
