Footprints of Glory Foundation, a non-profit organisation, in partnership with Ho West District Education Directorate yesterday organised champion of champions quiz for three basic schools in the Awudome Circuit in the Ho West District.

The participating schools came from Bame EP Primary, Tsito St Michael RC Primary and Kwanta EP Primary schools.

It attracted stakeholders including traditional authorities, parents, teachers, and school management committee.

The contest which was organised at the preliminary stages for all basic upper primary level pupils in the circuit sought to select the three best schools to contest for the champion of champions.

The competition which focused on subjects including English, Mathematics, Science and current affairs was to also engender healthy competition among the pupils.

After four rounds of the competition Tsito St Michael RC Primary emerged winners with 40 points, followed by Bame EP Primary 25 points and Kwanta EP Primary 17.5 points.

The District Chief Executive, Ernest Appau lauded the competition saying it would go a long way to improve learning abilities of children for improved academic performance.

He added that it would also help to build the confidence of the children to be able to speak in public.

Mr Appau said the Assembly had drawn up an elaborate educational programmes for the district and called the private sector to partner with the Assembly to execute them.

He assured of the Assembly’s support towards any group or individuals that would want to assist in improving education in the district.

In a speech read on her behalf, the Volta Regional Director of Education, Enyonam Afi Amafuga, called on parents to invest in the education of their children since the government alone could not do it.

She noted that we needed all hands on deck to be able to improve the falling standard of education in the region.

Mr Kafui Amegbe, Chief Executive of  Footprints of Glory Foundation noted that managing such a programme was a financial sacrifice  from him alone and that made it challenging to generate fund to support such programmes.

He, therefore, called on citizens of Awudome to partner with them to donate generously to the Foundation to execute more of its educational programmes.
