St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church honours Nii Adjiri-Blankson at 86

Member of Council of State, Stanley Nii Adjiri-Blankson, was on Sunday honoured by the Saint Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, and the youth association, for his contribution to the Church and national development, on the occasion of his 86th birthday.

Joining the former Mayor of Accra to mark his birthday at the church at Korle Gonno, a suburb of Accra, were President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, GaMantseNiiTackieTeikoTsuru II and a host of other dignitaries

Right Reverend Dr. Daniel Sylvanus Torto, Anglican Bishop of Accra, prayed for the President and his vice, asking for God’s wisdom and guidance as the country went through the challenges.

The Citation of Honour says “in recognition of your hard work and dedicated service to the parish of Saint Michael and All Angels, the Pariah Church Council on behalf of the entire congregation presents you with this citation of honour as Glorious Testimony of your works.”

Nii Adjiri-Blankson was baptised and confirmed in the church in 1948 and 1959 respectively.

Right Reverend Dr Torto thanked God for the live of Nii Adjiri-Blankson, who was dressed in all white and accompanied by his wife, Florence Okai-Blankson, sang along the gospel band and danced to the glory of God while waving a white handkerchief.

“We thank God for your life, you are always looking younger and younger as you age.You look like a 55-year-old boy, it is good we take an introspection to see the goodness of God in our lives,” Rev DrTorto said, recalling with fond memories what Nii Adjiri-Blankson did for him during his wedding on September 24-25 in 1984.

Preaching the sermon from Psalm 50 verse 14, Rt. Rev Torto, expressed the need to offer God a sacrifice and thanksgiving no matter the situation, saying that God would intend show his “salvation, blessings and guidance to humankind.”

He suggested a National Day of Thanksgiving to thank God for his blessing adding that “where things fall apart and the centre cannot hold that is the time to give thanks to God to deliver us from difficulties.”

Adjiri-Blankson recounted his dedication to the church and that of the President and the Vice who joined him in the church to seek the face of God, stressing that “I shall remain in this church throughout my life, I dedicate myself to the church.”

He expressed appreciation to the President, Vice President, the church and friends and relatives for the honour done him on his 86th birthday.

Some of the immeasurable services he rendered to the church included Gold plated monstrance, gold plated tabernacle, large size crucifixion, flat screen, purchase of generator, creating jobs for the youth, purchase state umbrella for Maundy Thursday and good Friday rites, purchase of organ for the parish gospel band, sole financier of left wing gallery of the parish, patron to some guilds and associations of the parish.

He has alsobeen supporting the needy and aged in the church and exhibited evangelistic spirit by sponsoring many youth training.
