Self-styled prophetess, ‘okada’ operator arrested over murder of boy, 13

A SELF-STYLED prophetess at Aflokorfe in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region, FrodaEkpe, and an ‘okada’ operator, Doe Tsidi, 26, have been arrested by the police for the ritual murder of a 13-year-old boy.

The boy was identified as Kofi KuzagbeTsidi, a nephew of the ‘okada’ operator.

The Central Tongu District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr Thomas Moore Zonyrah disclosed these to the Ghanaian Times, in an interview, here, on Monday.

The DCE, who is also chairman of the District Security Council (DISEC), said that the two suspects were arrested, following the discovery of the decapitated head of the boy in a pool of blood, behind a building belonging to Ekpe at about 10:15pm on Thursday.

The headless body of the boy was also found by the police by the Blakoe stream, at Aflokorpe, according to the Mr Zonyrah.

The DCR said Tsidi told the police that it was the woman who asked him to provide her with a human head and he murdered his nephew for that purpose.

Mr Zonyrah said that preliminary investigations into the matter revealed that Tsidi was a member of Ekpe’s prayer camp.

The head and the rest of body of the boy have been taken to the Battor Catholic Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

Meanwhile, reports reaching the Ghanaian Times at the time of filing this report indicated that a third suspect had been arrested in connection with the murder.

The murder of the teenager invokes memories of the mysterious disappearance of a seven-year-old boy in the Aflokorpe community in 2015, and a similar case occurreda month ago, when a child got lost at Bakpa-Forkpo, close to one of the prayer camps of the prophetess.
