Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been tasked to be sensitive in selecting party executives as they are the foundation that will help make the party formidable in 2024 to break the eight-year power jinx.
This is because breaking the eight-year political party jinx must not be taken for granted, people should not be complacent and also not take it as a joke as that would require reliable, competent, tried, tested and experienced leadership at the grassroots, constituency, regional and national levels to achieve.
Kwabena Adom Manas, a former Deputy Communication Director of the China branch of the NPP, who cautioned the delegates on the forthcoming constituency, regional and national delegates’ conference of the party, noted that in modern-day politics, there was the need to count on the majority to win elections but not everybody.
“The choice of candidates determines how the electorates will vote, how to win the majority, and how to hold on to power should be considered in any form of election and should not be taken for granted or be complacent to win power and we need well experienced hands with foresight who are also formidable and are not going to experiment, but who have seen it all to truly break the eight year rule.
“The battle for supremacy in governance between the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since 1992 has become an eight-year baton where power changes hands from one party to another no matter the performance of the government in power,” Mr Manas asserted.
Mr Manas averred that the chances of the NPP in Election 2024 depended on the kind of leadership the delegates would choose and appealed to them to allow the interest of the party to surpass their personal and selfish interests and select competent executives towards resounding victory in 2024 to break the eight. -GNA
