Rotary Club donates $100,000 medical books to Wa Nursing Training College

The Rotary Club of Wa in partnership with Rotary Club of Windsor Canada, has donated medical books worth USD$100,000 to Wa Nursing Training College in the Upper West Region to help promote teaching and learning.

The donation was aimed at equipping the trainees with sufficient knowledge on maternal and child health, diseases prevention and treatment as well as education and literacy.

The President of the Rotary Club of Wa, Mr Stephen Mwinkaara, in handing the books over to the school on Thursday at Kperisi, said he was hopeful it would help impact young nurses in building quality health care services needed for humanity.

“We are here because of our interest in building skilled and qualified human resource for our communities and in tandem with your aspiration as a health training institution,” he said

He stressed that if quality education was to be achieved, then learning should be the focus and for learning to take place effectively, materials and logistics should be made available for students.

The President of the Club encouraged the students to be serious with their studies and make good use of the educational materials provided.

He tasked the school authorities to handle the books with care so that more potential students would benefit from the books.

He used the opportunity to appeal to benevolent individuals to support activities of the club in order to expand its interventions, and expressed gratitude to the members of the club for their support for the benevolent acts.

The Principal of the school, Dr George Yaw Segnitome, received the books on behalf of his school and expressed gratitude to the donors for their moves in equipping students with more knowledge.

He urged other organisations, philanthropists and stakeholders to emulate the gesture of the club to support the development of education.
