Rotary Club Accra-Premier International Holds Charter Night

Rotary Club of Accra-Premier International, on Saturday, held its charter celebration night in Accra to mark its status as a new family of Rotarians.

The occasion, which was used to swear in the new president of the club, Mr Sivanesh Kumar, also saw the introduction of members, who were presented with Rotary pins.

It was a night of merrymaking with classical Indian musical intervals and dances, speeches, unveiling of the club’s logo, induction of new members and presentation of gifts.

The charter president, Mr Kumar, said the essence of establishing the new club was to practise and celebrate diversity, equity and inclusion.

“It does not matter who you are, who you love,how you worship, whether you have a disability, or what culture or country you are from;what matters is that, we want to strengthen the communities in the country we live in and take to create lasting change,”Mr Kumar.

He said ” Our club’s main goal for the year 2022-2023 is to strengthen and widen the club membership from predominantly Indian to multinational, improve on gender ratio in the club membership and to support deprived communities in the areas of healthcare, women empowerment, water and sanitation,.”

Mr Kumar said being a Rotarian would not only offer an opportunity to network, develop business and develop a sense of self-worth,“but also gives a feeling of belongingness in the community you live in.”

He thanked Rotarians, who have impacted on his life since joining the rotary club whiles commending the members of the new club for the immense support he enjoyed through quality time spent together, sincere commitment and enthusiasm to make the charter night a grand success.

There were goodwill messages from several Rotarians, who came to grace the occasion, including the District Governor to Accra-Premier International, Rotarian Victor Yaw Asante from District 9102 and Sam Worentetu, Chairman, Ghana Extension Committee.

Others are Yvonne Kumoji-Darko, Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator,Zone 27 who also doubles as District 9102 Membership Chair,Arun Patil, Project Director and Santosh Nair of Rotary Club, Accra Industrial among many others.
