Remain strong, prayerful amidst economic hardship …Rev. Aidoo tells Ghanaians

Ghanaians have been urged to remain strong, and be prayerful in spite of the current economic hardship the country is going through.

The District Minister, New Achimota District Ga West Presbytery , Rev. Kinsley Aidoo, in an interview with the Ghanaian Times last Sunday, said the church could not isolate itself from the state in the current economic hardship as the church was also feeling the impact.

Hence, Rev. Aidoo noted that it would not relent in its effort to consistently pray for the leadership of the country as Christ was the leader of the church and owner of the state.

“Generally, we are all feeling the economic heat in the country. It is today, tomorrow there is hope for whoever comes to power. We believe that so far as Christ continue to be the leader of the church and by extension, the owner of the state, he has the power to give our leaders the wisdom and knowledge so that they can put up plans to help bring about development.

The church cannot isolate itself from the state because we are part of the country and so we pray for the state, our leaders and everyone and we believe the Lord will speak and there will be hope for us”, Rev. Aidoo said.

He said these at the end of a foundation laying ceremony by the Living Bread Presbyterian Church, Tantra Hill on the theme “The God of the living”.

During the ceremony some items including monies of difference domination, a bible, a hymn book and a constitution of the church were buried with the help of Rev. Aidoo, the Deputy of the Ga West Presbytery, Rev. David S. Obli, founding members, Elders of the church and other dignitaries.

The items buried, according to Rev. Aidoo was important as it would serve as the cornerstone of the church, a remembrance and historical evidence to the younger generation in the future.

Delivering the sermon, Rev. Aidoo acknowledged the fact that the country was going through difficult moments financially but however encouraged them to be unfazed by it.

Citing instances from the scriptures such as Luke 20:20-27, Colossians 1:1-2 and Chronicles 1:1-4, Rev. Aidoo entreated the congregation to willingly contribute their quota both monetary and time towards the building of the church which was currently ongoing.

He further urged the congregation to offer themselves as a living sacrifice acceptable to the Lord in order to obtain his mercies and favour.

For his part, Rev. Obil, who represented the Chairperson of the Ga West Presbytery, Rev. Enoch Adjei Pobee as the Guest Speaker indicated that an individual could not make progress in whatever they do without a divine help.

For this reason, he prayed for God’s divine help and intervention for the congregation and leadership of the church while commending them for the selfless sacrifices made towards the building of the church.
