Rebecca Foundation, KGL train 70 women in baking, soap making

The Rebecca Foundation in partnership with the KGL Foundation has trained and graduated about 70 women in baking and soap making in the Greater Accra Region.

This is part of the Terema initiative by the Rebecca Foundation, which seeks to empower women economically by giving them employable skills through training.

Beneficiaries were also educated on basic financial and business management training.

They were given startup kits like ovens, bags of sugar, margarine, gallons of oil, eggs, gas cylinders, soap making kits, and cash to kick-start their businesses.

Addressing the gathering at the short ceremony in Accra, Thursday, the Founder of the Foundation, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo underscored the relevance of entrepreneurship in poverty alleviation saying “I am extremely happy that these women have gone through the training successfully.”

According to her, the skills they had acquired would help them gain financial independence.

She therefore, urged them to take seriously the knowledge acquired and train others as well.

“Financial independence is also about creating opportunities for entrepreneurship. Skills training equips individuals with the knowledge and expertise needed to start and sustain their own ventures. Entrepreneurial skills coupled with a solid foundation in business management, empower individuals to take control of their financial destiny, contributing to job creation processes,” she added.

The First Lady stated that investing in skills training at both individual and societal levels not only fosters personal development, but also strengthens the overall economy.

Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo also reiterated her commitment towards supporting women and children in the country through the Rebecca Foundation and its partners.

The Chief Executive Officer of the KGL Foundation, Mr Elliott Dadey, expressed his outfit’s continuous support for the Terema initiative.

According to him, the foundation would continue to empower women economically by providing them with employable skills through training.

One of the beneficiaries, Madam Ophelia Okyere expressed gratitude to the First Lady for the opportunity offered them, saying the skills would go a long way to help them generate income to support themselves and their dependents.
