Pupils showcase talents at National Theatre

It was fun and excitement as pupils from various schools stormed the stage of the National Theatre with drama, poetry and dance.

The activity forms part of the theatre’s mandate to nurture talents of children to embrace future opportunities.

Dubbed “Fun world” the entertainment programme aims at educating kids on the need to preserve their tradition and culture while promoting the creative art industry.

This edition saw 13 basic schools showcasing their talent on a United Nation’s “Girl Child Day” celebration which was to educate the world on the need to care for a girl child.

The schools included Diamond Ridge School, Crown Prince School, North Legon School Complex, Royal Brain School, Radiant Oak School and Lege Lege Academy among others.

Speaking exclusively to Times Weekend in Accra on Sunday, the Director of Funworld, Mr Harry Ammoo explained that children were left out in many entertaining activities organised in the country, hence Funworld.

He stated that Funworld since its inception had involved unearthing talents of children to meet future demands of the creative art industry and called on parents to allow their kids to participate in the programme.

Mr Ammoo used the opportunity to announce a kiddy festival christened “Kiddafest,” slated for December 12.

“This special event will see popular figures like Tic Tac, Martha Ankomah, Eddie Nartey and Kwami Sefa Kayi, everyone should make it a point to attend,” he added.

The Funworld Director called on organisations, cooperate entities and individuals to financially support the theatre to promote their programme for schools in other parts of the country to partake in it.
