PSG chase Toni Kroos

PARIS Saint-Germain have made Real Madrid ace Toni Kroos their primary transfer target, according to reports.

The Ligue 1 champs’ bosses want to strengthen their squad ahead of their pursuit of the Champions League glory next season.

PSG chief Nasser al-Khelaifi is reportedly desperate to see his club catching up with the level presented by Europe’s best clubs.

And in order to achieve that, the Qatari owner thinks that a summer squad overhaul at Parc des Princes is necessary.

The feeling was only reinforced by the Ligue 1 champs’ embarrassing Champions League exit this season at the hands of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United.

The Parisians reportedly target the wantaway Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.

But according to France Football, PSG gaffer Thomas Tuchel thinks Real Madrid midfield maestro Kroos, 29, is the missing piece of the puzzle in the club’s quest to clinch the longed-for Champions League trophy.

Tuchel wants to add another midfielder to his team amid Adrien Rabiot’s inevitable departure on a free transfer in the summer.

And Kroos himself would reportedly find PSG’s approach very appealing, especially as he could count on a 50 per cent increase in his salary.

His future at the Bernabeu was uncertain after Real Madrid spectacularly crashed out of the Champions League after the 4-1 home defeat to Ajax.

However, the return of Zinedine Zidane to the Los Blancos dugout could derail Tuchel’s plans of luring Kroos to Paris.

The French coach is a great fan of the German World Cup winner and does not intend to part ways with his star. – SunSports
