President commended for sterling performance

The President of the Enyan Abaasa Traditional Council, Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X, has commended the president for his sterling performance in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic and other development initiatives.

He explained that, the initiatives had helped in creating the platform for people to undertake ventures beneficial to the socio-economic development of their communities.

Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X, issued the commendation at a durbar of chiefs and people of Enyan Abaasa in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Constituency of the Central Region in honour of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia when he visited the area last Friday.

The visit formed part of the Vice president’s campaign tour of the region to canvass for votes for the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidates for next month’s polls.

Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X noted that the introduction of the Free SHS policy by the current administration had eased the burden of parents in terms of financing their children’s education at the SHS level.

He however, appealed for the construction of boys and girls and dormitory blocks for the Abaasa Senior High School.

He also expressed appreciation to the government for facilitating the provision of potable water for the area.

He said the provision of potable water for the area, had contributed in the eradication of the incidence of Guinea worm infestation in the area.

Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X, called on the government to facilitate the construction of the Mankessim-Denkyira-Ajumako-Agona Swedru Road which he said, was not in the best condition.

The road he said would reduce travel time and also promote economic activities among the various communities when completed.

On curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, he admonished Ghanaians to adhere to the established protocols adopted in reducing the spread of the virus.

He appealed to the electorates to unite and vote for individuals not based on partisan consideration but on competence.

He said, the “skirt and blouse” pattern of voting had affected the progress of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam district assembly which he noted, had failed to elect a presiding member for the past three years.

Skirt and blouse voting, is a term where the electorates vote for a presidential candidate and vote for a member of parliament from a different political party.

Osagyefo Akonu urged all the candidates contesting this year’s polls to accept the outcome of the elections.

Dr Bawumia in his address, urged the electorates to consider the progress of the constituency when they were about to cast their votes and said, the NPP was the only political party with the track record of delivering on its promises.

He appealed to them to vote for President Akufo-Addo and also vote for Dr Rashid Etuaful, the NPP parliamentary candidate to ensure the needed development that would transform the area.

A similar durbar was held at Eguafo in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) constituency where the Vice President introduced the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Dr Joe Acquah to the electorates.
