Manifestation of Holiness, an online religious group last Saturday donated assorted food items to the Porters Children’s Home at Dodowa in the Shai Osudoku District in the Greater Accra Region.
The presentation formed part of the group’s activities to mark their 3rd anniversary celebrations.
Items presented included car
of oats, beverages, bottle and sachet water, milo, indomie, canned fish and tomato paste, guardian soap, detergents, gallons of edible oil, variety of soft drinks and biscuits, bags of maize, rice and sugar, sanitary pads, diapers, clothing and footwear.
The about 178 inmates were also feted with pastries and varieties of prepared dishes while they (Children) in turn entertained the guests with good music interspersed with their dancing skills.
Pastor Walaa Kwesi Boakye who led the congregation said the donation has been their annual affair since the establishment of the church where they pick a vulnerable group to celebrate the day with, in line with the vision of the founder.
He stated that the group visited the home and decided to spend the 3rd anniversary with them in order to erase the notion that they have been neglected since they did not choose to be there by themselves but due to circumstances beyond their control.
“Occasions such as our anniversary must always be used to give back to society especially to those in need in order to navigate them out of their predicament so as to make them feel being part of society, “he added.
Mr Boakye said the church would liaise with the management of the home to constantly plan towards their future needs to enable them contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of the country.
He urged spirited individual and corporate institutions to set aside a day of their calendar to assist the vulnerable and others in need so that the collective burden would be shared among the society of the “haves and the have not.”
The Manager of the Home, Mrs Sophia Di Myers commended the church for the kind gesture and the wonderful gifts and prayed for God to replenish their stock.
“We really appreciate what you have done for us today, we pray that God would guide and protect your activities so as to put the smiles on the faces of our vulnerable ones who always fell dejected,” she added.
The Social worker of the home Ms, Emefa Gai appealed to spirited individuals and philanthropist to support the home to provide the educational needs of the inmates.
According to her even though, they are doing their best more assistance is needed since some of them are in Senior High Schools and the Universities.
