Police at Ejisu are investigating the death of a 23-year-old female house help at Awomaso in the Oforikrom Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
Akua Kyem, died following alleged beatings by her mistress, Jean Nsiah, who had been arrested by the police.
Relatives of the deceased suspected a fishy deal and have called on the police to let justice prevail.
They claimed they gathered information that the suspect used to beat Kyem mercilessly and inflicted cutlass wounds on her.
The suspect reported the death of Kyem to the police after depositing the body at the mortuary at the Emena Hospital, in Boadi.
A police source at the Ejisu Divisional Police Command had confirmed the arrest of the suspect, adding that some implements have been retrieved at the residence of Nsiahas part of investigations.
According to the source, the Ejisu Magistrate Court has remanded Nsiah, 57, in police custody when she appeared before it on Tuesday.
