Police Ladies tame Ridge City

Police Ladies FC recorded their third win of the ongoing Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League when they defeated Ridge City 3-2 away at the Madina Astro turf.

With both teams occupying the lower ranks of the table, Police went behind just after eight min­utes through a stunner by Annabel Odoom.

The uniform ladies, however, got the equaliser through Bernice Apprey Arhinful on 23 minutes, and went ahead through Mawusi Agbenyo by the 34th minute.

Regina Amoah drew the host level with a near-post finish in the 67th minute, but when all pointed to a draw, Grace Animah popped up in the 91st minute to steal vic­tory for the visitors as she slipped a shot past goalkeeper Dorothy Prempeh Baffoe in post for Ridge City.

Army Ladies FC kept their three points lead at the summit of the Southern zone table, when they defeated Thunder Queens FC 2-0 away at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman.

Midfielder, Lily Niber Lawrence, grabbed all two goals in the 11th and 38th minutes to make sure the Camouflage ladies returned to the barracks smiling.

Hasaacas Ladies kept the heat on the leaders when they defeated Essiam Socrates 3-1 at the Sekondi Gyandu Park, with a brace from Fatoumata Tamboura on the 30th and 48th minutes.

Fidous Yakubu was also on the score sheet on 42 minutes, while Hannah Nyame got on back for the visitors on 39 minutes.

In other games in the zone Lady Strikers FC were held to a 1-1 draw game at the Robert Mensah Park by Faith Ladies FC, Portia Prem­peh got the opener for the visitors on 50 minutes, while Deborah Amponsah got the equaliser with the last kick of the game on the 94th minute mark, while Soccer Intellectuals and Berry Ladies FC settled for a 0-0 drawn game at the Eduyaw Assassin Park in Ajumako.

In the Northern zone, Fabulous Ladies recorded their second win of the campaign with a 3-0 victory over Candy Soccer Academy at the Bantama Astro turf with two goals from Princess Owusu and another by Gladys Benewaa.

Ladies Supreme brushed aside Ashtown Ladies 4-1 at the Banta­ma Astro turf on Saturday, with goals from Susana Konadu, Diana Amoako, Felicia Biyom and Linda Owusu Ansah with Josephine Addowaa pulling one back.

At the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale on Friday, Pearlpia Ladies held Dreamz Ladies FC to a 1-1 draw, Stella Nyamekye got the opener for the visitors with Bugre Memuna drawing parity for the host on 58 minutes.

Tamale Super Ladies held Northern Ladies to goalless draw at the same venue on Saturday, while leaders Ampem Darkoa Ladies beat Prison’s Ladies 1-0 yesterday at the Open Ameyaw Park through a 31st minute penalty converted by Comfort Yeboah.
