Police investigate death of taxi driver at Asofan

The police are investigating the cause of death of a taxi driver, Alex Mantey, who was found behind his steering wheel at Asofan near Virgin Water Company, in Accra.

The Public Relations Officer of Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, disclosed this to the Ghanaian Times, in Accra, yesterday.

She said on Monday at about 4:00 pm police received a report that a 49-year-old driver was found dead behind the steering wheel of his taxi cab with registration number GC 1416-19, parked in front of a chop bar.

DSP Tenge said Mantey was reported to have bought food from the chop bar and returned to his car, but unable to move his car.

She said inspection in the vehicle revealed a ball of banku and soup an a drug named  Omeprazole 20mg capsules in pack.

DSP Tenge said there were no marks of assault on the deceased, adding that the body has been deposited at the Nsawam Government Hospital whiles investigations continued.
