The police are also probing suicide by the suspect, Thomas Kontoh, 50-year-old  trotro driver, who is the husband of the woman.

The District Police Commander, Superintendent Emmanuel Nii Annan Ofori, in a telephone interview with the Ghanaian Times, said a crime scene investigation team from the Tema Regional Police Command, had conveyed the body of the woman to the Police Hospital mortuary, in Accra.

He said a machete-stained with blood, believed to have been used in the killing of the woman, was found in an uncompleted house.

The landlord of the woman, Rogerx Odomple, who spoke with the Ghanaian Times in a telephone interview, said the incident happened at Jerusalem Number 8, near Zenu in the Kpone Katamanso District of the Greater Accra Region, and not in his house.

The landlord said the couple had been engaging in misunderstandings, which he has been invited to settle.
