Police grab notorious armed robber

An armed robber, who has been on the Police wanted list and described as notorious was yesterday apprehended.

Annan Tetteh, 29, also known to be a landguard, was arrested at his residence at Gbawe in the Weija municipality, for his alleged involvement in various violent crimes committed around Gbawe and its environs.

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Efia Tenge confirmed the arrest to the Ghanaian Times yesterday.

She said a search conducted in Tetteh’s room led to recovery of four BB life cartridges, one empty cartridge, military accoutrement and a cutlass.

According to DSP Tenge 20 cases of various criminal offences had been filed against Tetteh by residents.

She said the police upon a tip-off, dispatched a patrol team to the residence of Tetteh at about 2am and after a fierce struggle he was overpowered and arrested.

According to DSP Tenge, Tetteh threatened to kill the police officers who were pursuing him to arrest him.

Recounting some of the violent crime of Tetteh, she said on March 17, last year, at Gbawe Bulemin, he damaged the church building of Redeemed Apostolic Ministry and on another occasion assaulted one Victor Owusu, while he (Owusu) was working on his land.

DSP Tenge said Tetteh would soon be put before court.
