A 36-year-old man, who allegedly robbed a shop attendant of his valuables, estimated at GHȼ30,000, has been arrested by the police at Madina in Accra.
Tenkorang Bimpong, the suspect, who is currently in the custody of the police, and two others, were reported to have attacked their victim at gunpoint and tied him with cellotape before robbing him.
The Abokobi District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police (Supt) Edward Tetteh, confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Times, in Accra, yesterday.
He said on August 1, Daniel Opoku, an attendant at a mobile phone shop at Pantang village, reported to the Abokobi police station that at about 1pm, three men entered the shop and at gunpoint attacked and tied him with cellotape.
Supt Tetteh said the robbers took away assorted laptop computers, 50 mobile phones and a 32-inch LG flat screen television among others, valued at GHȼ30,000 and bolted by vehicle.
He said through investigations, on August 8, one Collins Ofosu, 26, was arrested at Madina Zongo Junction offering a laptop computer believed to be one of those robbed from the complainant’s shop, for sale and was arrested.
Supt Tetteh said Ofosu mentioned Tenkorang as the one who gave the laptop computer to him to sell.
He said the complainant identified the laptop as his, but denied that Ofosu was part of the gang that robbed him.
Supt Tetteh said on August 8, he was arrested at Madina Atomic and led the police to retrieve the LG 32-inch flat screen television, one laptop and two mobile phones, which the complainant identified as his.
The police commander said the two other accomplices were being sought for by the police.
He said investigations were ongoing, adding that the suspect would be put before court soon.
