Police face Halifax in Women Special Competition

The Normalisation Committee’s (NC) Special Competition for women’s football clubs kicks off today at all league centers with some very interesting pairings.

Top of the fixtures will be the clash between Police Ladies and Halifax Ladies at the Teshie Military Academy School (MATS) Park at 3pm tomorrow.

The competition put together by the NC is expected to keep the club’s busy and players active ahead of impending international assignments after football activities were put on hold as a result of the Anas Aremeyaw Anas ‘Number 12’ exposé on corruption in Ghana football

By the format for the competition, each team will play six games on home and away basis with the top two teams in each of the four groups progressing to the quarter final phase and continue to the final two to be determined on April 20.

Former Sanford Women’s FA Cup champions, Police Ladies are eager to go all the way to the final to lift the trophy at stake and have braced themselves to pick all three points at stake against Halifax Ladies.

Since joining the elite division of Ghana’s women football, Police Ladies are yet to taste a defeat at the hands of the visitors.

The last time the two met was in April last year at the Comm. 8 No. 2 Park in Tema where Police Ladies emerged beat them 1-0.

Halifax Ladies has since gone through some transformation and have brought in some experienced players as well as employed the services of Assistant Black Queens Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo whose experience they hope to count on to break the Police invincibility.

Before that epic game tomorrow, Immigration Ladies will today host Samaria Ladies at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park.

In Group A tomorrow, Fabulous Ladies FC will be at the Wesley College Park to play host to Ashtown Ladies FC while Kumasi Sports Academy will play Supreme Ladies at the Prempeh Collage Park.

Action in Group B will begin this afternoon at the Tamale Utrecht Park where home side Pearlpia Ladies FC will host Prisons Ladies FC while tomorrow at the Ohene Ameyaw Stadium in Techiman, Ampem Darkoa Ladies will come up against Northern Ladies FC.

This afternoon, Ladystrikers FC will welcome 3-time national league champions Hasaacas Ladies to the Cape Coast Stadium to kick start action in Group C with Soccer Intellectuals engaging Elmina Sea lions at the University of Education Park, Winneba.
