Police close roads ahead of ECOWAS summit

The police has announced a temporarily closure of some roads in Accra ahead of an extraordinary summit of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) from September 15 to 16 2021.

The affected roads are Jubilee lounge to Liberation road at Opeibea, Liberation road from Opeibea traffic light through the Independence Avenue at National Theatre traffic light, Kempinski Hotel to National Theatre on Independence Avenue through AkoAdjei.

The head of Public Relations of the Accra Regional police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Juliana Obeng disclosed this in a press release issued and copied to the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday.

She urged motorists to take note of these traffic arrangement and comply accordingly.

“The General Public is encouraged to co-operate with the police to ensure effective traffic management during the period, ’’She added

DSP Obeng stated that the Command had made adequate provision for Motor Traffic Police Officers to be detailed to vantage points to offer the needed assistanceto motorists.

The Ghanaian Times gathered that thirteen heads of states were expected to attend today’s meeting to deliberate on the coup d’etat in Guinea.

Mali and Guinea would not be attending the summit since the focal point of discussion would be the political unrest in the two countries.

Meanwhile, the Liberian President, George Weah, arrived in Accra on Wednesday morning for the summit.
