A show host of Radio XYZ, Salifu ‘Mugabe’ Maase yesterday reported to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Accra following an invitation to assist the Police in investigation in connection with threat on the life of Multimedia Group Limited investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni.

Mugabe was alleged to have said on a radio show at XYZ that he had credible information regarding a threat on the life of Manasseh and urged the Police to take preventive measures.

The Deputy Director-General of the CID, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) George Tweneboah told the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday but did not give further details.

His invitation is to assist the Police with information on the threat on the investigative journalist following his documentary on the De-Eye Group.

He reported at the CID at 4:00p.m in the company of his lawyer, Victor Kojogah Adawudu and former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Saeed Sinare among others.

Sympathisers of the radio presenter which included relatives and colleagues trooped to the CID headquarters to show solidarity.

There were armed police personnel at the entrance of the CID headquarters to ensure law and order.

Manasseh Azure, an investigative journalist, in a documentary suggests that the former seat of government which houses the offices of some current ministers, have been turned into a training camp for De-Eye, an alleged militia group.

Meanwhile government has since denied claims in the documentary by Manasseh Azure saying the documentary is a “malicious” representation of facts and lacked evidence to support the narrative that the government is supporting a militia group.
