The membership of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has been reconstituted with Professor Kwame Adom-Frimpong re-elected as chairman.
Apart from the chairman who represents the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana, the vice-chair, Mr. Nasir Alfa Mohammed, a representative of the Ghana Bar Association, was also retained.
The reconstitution of the statutory body which oversees the management and use of the country’s petroleum revenues, follows the expiration of the tenure of some members in September.
A statement issued in Accra yesterday, said apart from Prof Adom-Frimpong, the reconstituted committee re-elected the chairman and his vice at a meeting held last Thursday.
It said Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences retained Emerita Prof Elizabeth Ardayfio-Schandorf, as its representative while the Trades Union Congress replaced Mrs Mary Karimu with Ms Freda Frimpong.
It said the Paramount Queen Mother of the Drobo Traditional Area, Nana Yaa Ansua, had replaced Hajia Dr Kansawurche Azara Bukari as the representative of the Queen Mothers Association, Ghana.
The statement said the members have since been sworn into office by the Chairman of the Committee, Professor Adom-Frimpongupon the authorisation of the Minister for Finance for a two-year term, in accordance with the Petroleum Revenue Management Act, 2011 (Act 815).
Accepting his re-election, Prof. Adom-Frimpong expressed gratitude to the Committee for the confidence reposed in him, and pledged his commitment to the service of PIAC and the citizenry.
The PIAC inaugurated in September 2011 was established under Section 51 of the Petroleum Revenue Management Act (PRMA), to among others, monitor and evaluate compliance with the Act.
