PGA Regional Tours kicks off tomorrow

The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) has rolled out new tournaments that are expected to keep golfers across the country busy and become more competitive.

Christened the ‘PGA Regional Tours’, the event is the maiden brainchild of the new executive of the PGA led by Mr. Kwame Mintah and aims at improving the lives of professional golfers.

The very first edition will tee off tomorrow in the Western region and expected to end on Friday.

Nana Prempeh, Director of the Public Affairs at the PGA said in a statement that the long periods of inactivity for Professional golfers will come to an end under the Kwame Mintah administration as his executive find ways of organizing series of competitions to keep them active.

“Professional golfers depend on golf competitions for their livelihood and as a result must not be made inactive due to lack of competitions. Mr. Mintah’s administration is focused on making them busy throughout the year,” he said.

According to him, Mr. Kwame Mintah and his young band of enthusiasts are introducing the Regional Tours competition to breathe new life into professional golf in terms of competition and stem the dull periods where activities become less.

He said the tourney will begin tomorrow on the plush Damang Golf Course and traverse to the Nsuta Golf Course on the second day. The Bogoso Golf course noted for its plush and inviting green nature will host the cream of golfers the next day.

The Tarkwa Golf Course will take centre stage when the event reaches a climax in the Western Region to be followed by the Greater Accra region.

The Accra version will see the premier club, Achimota Golf Course hosting on day one to be followed by the Celebrity Golf Club on the second day with the Tema Country Golf Club hosting the penultimate event before making a u-turn to Achimota for the climax.

Golfers will converge in Kumasi at the Royal Golf Club and the Obuasi Golf Course hosting the third phase of the novelty competition.
